BICEPS/SSE Riga Research Seminar: Crossing an elephant with a butterfly: what can you learn by linking CGE model with EUROMOD

We kindly invite you to the BICEPS/SSE Riga research seminar! It will take place on Thursday, September 19 at 17.00 in room 611 with the presentation:

“Crossing an elephant with a butterfly: what can you learn by linking CGE model with EUROMOD” by Anna Zasova (BICEPS) and Konstantins Benkovskis (SSE Riga, Bank of Latvia).

Abstract

In this paper, we present results from linking a computable general equilibrium model with a tax-benefit microsimulation model EUROMOD for Latvia. This allows utilizing the advantages of each model: assessing the agents’ heterogeneity with EUROMOD (cannot be done with a CGE model) and accounting for the indirect macroeconomic effects with the CGE model (cannot be done with a static microsimulation model). We illustrate our methodology by analyzing the macroeconomic and distributional effects of a macro shock and hypothetical tax-benefit reforms.

No prior registration for the seminar is necessary. For any questions about the seminar, or if you have a colleague that would like to be added to the distribution list, please write to Nicolas Gavoille.
